You can't make this game better without increasing the visual aspects. If your computer can't handle it, than I'd assume it's time to start looking for another computer. A game shouldn't just not improve because people have garbage computers that can't handle a 'smoke grenade' - (or better internet). If this game ever wants to grow, it needs to improve visually which will make it far more laggy for guys with garbage internet/computers.

Gotta agree with Superman on the fact that things that get changed aren't what will help this game. But, your game, your choice.

Why do you think this game is still alive even though it's nowhere near the same quality visually as most games these days? It's not because it's easy on computers, cause it lags more players than a lot of visually-appealing games. So, if people are staying knowing there's prettier games out there, why is it? Well that's pretty obvious dontcha think? It's because the gameplay is so fun!

Now lets look at why players don't stay... would you really suggest it's because they "struggled to get good" ? (I have never just been amazing off the start of any game) Or is it because DP (especially with default textures on download), is ugly, gives bad FPS, and some more criticisms.

So if changing stuff that keeps your current community around doesn't seem logical, does it? Shouldn't you do stuff to keep or attract new players? Jumping is the main aspect that seperates good and bad players, anyone can spray in a 1hitkill game. By making jumping easy, you make the current competitive scene die a little more, and it still doesn't attract new players. Now this being said, I haven't watched any demo's but somebody explained the c1 jump to me, and I'm judging a lot of it off posts I've read.

What's important? Attracting people? Or changing it how you see fit? It's your game, but you don't play a lot and if you truly want to see it grow, you should take the opinions of those who actively play. (featurevotes)

I think this would be awesome to have for the DP community, but only if it is not done half-assed.

I agree 100% - but there's a difference between "done half-assed" and not being done well. Sometimes the person doing it, in this case CheMiCaL, may be doing his best, however he may not be the most knowledgeable person, making the video's not as good as they could be. (This is really the main reason I'm making text files of how-to's for him, so for now on he'll cover more info). There's always room for improvement, it just needs to start with somebody taking initiative.

If people watch CheMiCaL's videos he has up now, they should comment on what would make it better in this thread, so he can continue to improve them. What are they missing? Did it answer all possible questions? etc..  - My criticism to him (which i've told him) is the fact it's more: "watch and do" , he doesn't really explain what he's doing it while doing it (granted most things are self explanitory, but might as well be as clear as possible!).

EDIT: Terrorist, short videos are better. An installing BSP video would consist of showing where to find the file, download, and where to put it. Some people struggle a lot with downloading stuff, so having it seperate works better. I rather watch a 1 min video on what I need, than a 10min video trying to find that little part I need.

SuperMAn, I've been helping CheMiCaL with these (setting them up in text versions for him to make the videos, thats why im replying) and that's pretty much what we were going to do IF we went into detail. But since CheMiCaL doesn't know much at all about map-making (and I have limited knowledge) it was going to be pretty much Installing BSP - explaining a few key concepts to mapping, and explaining what it takes to make a good DP2 map.

The lack of our knowledge in the mapping department is why we want the community to help with this project, video-how-to's are far easier for beginners than written documents. If they are all put in 1 spot, it makes it easy for beginners to find them. (Whether it be CheMiCaL's videos, or somebody else who makes them better). Anyways, thanks for your advice though, for jumping how-to's they will be split up (since it's easier for viewers in my opinion too watch a 2--3min vid on what they want to see, rather than a 15min vid that they don't need most of it).

Yet, you also said that there is still one player unbanned. By your tone I am guessing you did not report him? Yeah, dude, you are so welcomed back to the community.

Uhm.. how do you know I never reported him? I'm pretty sure I posted his name publically in Chalk's ban thread, I also posted every name to jitspoe when I got banned along with the cheat used. I don't understand why he never got banned. The guys been reported by all of the people who got banned, in fact he's also been reported for having like 3 or 4 accounts (Maybe the committee is looking at his multi's and after that's resolved he'll get banned?). And there's possibly 2 people, was Hippie banned? I think I was told he had them too. So yeah, it's been reported but I'll say it publically - poX cheated and has multiple accounts, and I "THINK" Hippie tried them(not sure he if did get banned or not).

Jusu I don't recall losing often, but maybe that's a memory lapse? (actually I think I hardly won at all WHILE cheating). Unless you were pointing that towards 'real' games, which then I agree.

There's nothing I could possibly do to prevent cheating, how would I find out if a cheat is undetectable without using it? I'm all for permanent bans, but I think those bans should be able to get reduced (dependant on situation) based off proving they want back. (Making trailers, GOOD maps, Models etc...)

I used Crossfire as an example because of the ridiculously low ban times. It was pointing out that not every game is perma ban, and the rest was pointing out most games are just account based. But in a game like this, who cares if your account is banned? A lot of players would love making new accounts so they lose their formers.

But on the "getting cheaters back into this game" note, it's the fact that most of them HAVE served their ban times if you base of it off regular times that most players have gotten for the same situation. (I mean, look how many chances homingbullet got). They've served almost 80 days, and I don't think any of them had more than a second offence (some were their first offence). The distributor is already known by Jitspoe, so it's just seeing if Jitspoe is going to look over their times once he gets the time.

Didn't read Toxiic's posts cause his english hurts my eyes, thank you Jusu writing nicely.

Jusu most games are account bans, rather than hardware bans.

And surprisingly, while playing Crossfire my teammate cheated and got banned and well it made DP look super strict. First offence is 3 days, and it doubles from there. But it does say on your account if you've previously cheated which affects getting into most teams. But again, it's account banning.

I realize account banning wouldn't work here at all for obvious reason's, but just felt like pointing out the fact that most games make you "restart" your rep/character etc.. instead of removing the cheater from the game.

Steam games you just have to get a new steam, which leads to purchasing the games again (dependant on the amount of games you have) but again, it doesn't remove you from the community, it makes you lose all current reputation/progress etc.. and restart.

A way this could be worked into DP (You can't change the banning style, but by "making them do something" to come back) could be making some kind of say... community service, dependant on your amount of days. It makes the community know you truly want back, and shows you're willing to help. These could be things such as, successfully making and releasing a map, creating How-To guides(like what Chem is doing), etc...

EDIT: Nevermind that last paragraph. It made sense writing it when I was looking at the "group" that all got 1024 days, but if bantimes are the set standard of 32x2x2x2 and so on then there's no real insentive to need to. (Unless you're up to like 250days, but those are like 4th offenders which don't deserve to be back). So I guess this only really works if it's like, perma-ban all the time, and you can do community service to get back into the community instead of waiting out 'x' amount of days.

I'm not sure if it's your computer/rendering or your FOV (or a combination) that makes it look really choppy, but that's besides the point, I'm not going to make comments on those parts of the video. (but it does make it hard to watch).

On a lot of your kills you do a little 'zoom in' - you but it's more annoying than anything. You zoom in, but it feels more like a 'glitch' rather than zooming in. It's way to fast, since you have a higher fov (or bad quality video? whichever it is), you should have the zoom longer so we actually see who you shot, or no zoom at all. (Often a long zoom can make good shots look more flukey,  and take away from quality shots).

Also, are these default textures? If yes, don't make videos with them. It makes the video really hard to watch.

I'm not a fan of the music, but that's just preference. I don't like most songs used in DP2 videos.

But eh, I don't like most of the DP2 videos that come out. There's only a few I've liked. But either way, goodjob on the vid. I'm not commenting on the actual shots and whatnot because that's all opinion. But remember, lucky shots are nice shots, luck is skill.

This is the type of post that is so stupid. Who cares? That's your opinion, he's trying to help so support the topic instead of why you think he's doing it. Either way, he's doing it. And yes this COULD help him because all the bans were ARE getting relooked at. They are set at that length until Jitspoe sorts it out (distributors etc..) he's just not been motivated to look into it. Chem showing he cares and wants to help may get noticed, and if it's truly well done could help his case get looked at faster. Don't post when you don't know the circumstances.

1) Explain what you're doing while doing it, instead of: 'uhh so you go here, then here, then here'
2) It's easier to just copy the folder instead of copying every picture
3) Why is there like 3mins of nothing?
4) Guess you weren't lying when you said you really wanted back and were going to prove it. This may not be 'a lot' but it's a good start. Goodluck. Hope you get your bantime reduced to a deserved length.

EDIT: You just posted saying you did an IRC thing, explaining what you made a mistake on. After you work on a few and get used to it, (if you feel it's useful and people are noticing it), then you should go back and fix old ones to make them all good. Who knows, they may lead to tutorials on this website to help people!

OH HaI, ISH MYERS. Yeah, CheMiCaL msg'd me on facebook showing me he's trying to get unbanned. Btw, making forum accounts are impossible now, another great thing about this game! Let's add in stupid questions with '42' as the answer to help noobiez get into this game!!! I mis-wrote my fake email the first time, so then tried to do it again, but it wouldn't let me because it was on the same computer, guess you can't have multiple forum accounts now? Even if the previous wasn't validated.

ANYWAYS duggas, I don't plan on continuely posting or trying to fight to get myself unbanned in this thread. I emailed Jitspoe everything I needed to, whether he decides to lower the ban or not is his choice. Judging about this new forum account creating hastle, I don't see him wanting this game to expand much. But the lack of mottivation is expected, it's been long enough and this game provides nothing but hastle to him.

I just basically want to clear up a few things,

1) The 'hacking' group that all got 1024 days didn't have the intention of "OMG LETS KILL THE GAME" - and for those who don't believe me, CheMiCaL got the cheats later then most of the people, so I'd doubt he would be a part of wanting to kill the game - but it was basically people moving on from the game and wanting to hack. Not going to lie, it was fun. We did it for about a week, but after there being about 1 cheater in every clan it become boring and we had the mass-turn in. (btw, there's still at least 1 person who is still not banned who used them, were they truly detectable?). 
So basically, we just did it to hack. We didn't try and prove anything by cheating, we were already established in the community, and we didn't try to kill the community by cheating. That being said, we knew very well that it would make the game a lot less active, but it was just 'our group' who cheated. The distributor didn't spread it out of the group. The entire group was planning on quitting for a 'while' anyways, so yeah. I don't really know where all these "they tried to kill the game" assumptions came from.

Now to some comments in this thread,
1) Chemical, posting here wont help your case at all. Even if jitspoe read the forums (which let's be serious, he doesn't have the time to read a thread like this), your 'proposal?' wont make him suddenly think you're going to help this community. You're not providing him with anything special, you're just showing you want back in. That's the one thing Rick had over most others with a high ban, he could map and stuff, which he did while being banned showing he put time and effort while being banned. (He still served like what? 300 days?)

2) Rick, if you only distributed to me that'd be saying Cusoman HAPPENED to learn how to do it, as well as Navyseal and others at the EXACT same time? Unless you're saying I gave them out? Kinda odd. I don't want to bring stuff up from 3 years ago though, but there's more to that story than you say, considering you weren't my actual distributor.
 
3) Stop saying 'youre banned' to Chalk(Myles), cause he's not. He's the only one out of the 'hacking group' that got unbanned. He's currently playing digital paintball 2.0.

4) PvtJimmy leaked me a lot of committee information. I always lied to flip (since he seemed to be the only one who cared about finding out) by saying I got it from everyone, little peices then I put it together. But yeah, PvtJimmy was my longest-lasting leak. Shep never leaked me info, lied about that too. Heck, Idias hardly even leaked me anything which was disapointing. So yeah, there's the leak who told me a lot.

5) I agree with everyone who says not to unban hackers. That is, ban them before their ban lengths are up. However, I don't agree with 'special treatment' type situations, where certain people get lowered/highered ban times. Set standards, and use those standards. Players should never get their bans lowered or removed, they cheated, they get their ban length. But, when it's an undeserved time, than it becomes something personal which is dumb. If this game can't actively play without hackers coming back, than it's safe to say it's dead soon. It's had a good run. (The note about unfair ban lengths is towards the group that got banned recently, since most of them don't deserve that high.)

I can't think of anything else to say about this, but basically of the people who got banned some of them don't deserve it. Juiicy and CheMiCaL cheated later than most of us, and only cheated because everyone else was. They do not deserve to be banned, same goes for Skitzo who was just on teamspeak with us all and we told him we were using them. Cyntex distributed to everyone (as far as I know) and deserves to stay banned. Riddick spammed cheats all over IRC afterwards, and deserves to stay banned. Who else cheated with the group.... oh, Idias definitely doesn't deserve to stay banned, it was the guys first offence. So Idias, Chemical, Juiicy and Skitzo deserve their ban times relooked at.

I'd argue for myself, but unlike the others I don't plan on coming back. I have a new laptop and I'm at university. If I wanted to play I could've. I was planning on cheating before going off to uni for a while, as I started to get bored of the game, (Which is probably where this 'they want to kill the game!!!' idea came from). Me cheating before I quit was planned, it just happened that Cyntex happened to offer them on teamspeak to everyone. Everyone else mentioned followed in. So I'm completely fine with my ban time, and I don't expect anything done about it. But jitspoe only responded to 1 of the people who got banned, that being Chalk, in about what, 2 months? which shows he has no intentions of lowering most peoples.

-- I'm sorry Alec for continuing to derail your thread. I actually agree with you, after seeing how annoying making a forum account is I would've never played a game where making accounts are this annoying. (I wonder if reg accounts changed). But sadly nothing will get done, Jitspoe definitely isn't motivated to work on this game, when was the last build released?

Oh and Rick, why do you only say Skitzo? Because he's your friend unlike the others? Chemical was known as a rager, so you don't like him, but the fact that him and Skitzo were the same in the way they cheated (and they both have previous offences) why Skitzo? Why not juiicy? Chemical? Idias? - this is another problem with the community. Just like the people on forums as Chalk previously said, they rage newbies as much as any player did. A lot of people think their so high and mighty on forums trying to put down 'new' or 'younger' players. It's the same as raging in game.

Oh, and goodjob to people like Superman who are still contributing to the game and helping it. It`s players like you that have kept the game going for this long.

Peace out DP2, if you're going to say certain people deserve to be unbanned, base it off the situation, not their personalities. thanks folks. I`m not rereading so if parts dont make sense whatevz duggas
