It's a modernized version of warhouse.

If you compare the looking of the original version with this one, it's night & day.

You guys did a good job. It's a pleasure for the eyes.

The only downside is the performances. With a nvidia gforce 1060 graphical card when i'm looking mid from anywhere on the map.
My FPS goes down from 500 to 120 and i can see why it would be an issue for lower GPUs. Anything below 250 FPS feels whack on DP2.


The loss of FPS is actually CPU related as DP has a monolithic single thread for almost everything. If you run afterburner or something similar you can see that GPU usage is actually very low. That being said the B2 version should improve things, let me know how it works for you.

I'm trying to remember everything, here's a incomplete list.

1. Moved loads of small objects to Detail group
2. Added about 8-9 hint brushes to break up some of the areas including a hint brush separating the whole top and bottom half of the map
3. Changed some lighting values
4. Removed face 'value' from many brushes, this was crashing Arghrad
5. Modified the 2 doors on the bottom floor into each base so you don't get caught up by the sides where the arch was below 56 units.
6. Fixed a couple if triangular gaps that were right along the back wall and hard to see
7. Numerous small adjustments and grid alignments.

Happy 20th DP! This game and it's community are a testament to fun and action, modern games are just catching up to the heart pounding experience I had playing it in the early 2000s.

This is v0.1 of my new dp setup for quark, it is somewhat incomplete but functional to start mapping. Future updates will generally only require one file to be overwritten.

What's here...

. Full quark and dp folder easy to setup for mapping
. All basic DP textures
. Compilers
. Setup guide and sample map to test

What's missing...

. Pball entities are only partly here, that's what I'm working on now
. Custom texture sets, need some help with this, someone who knows how to use wally and has some time
. Odds and ends
. Your effort to learn and master Quark, it will be some work but will pay off handsomly since quark also maps for a whole slew of different games

Way to go CK I really like it. No one new has really impressed me til now, I like seeing a mapper with a handle on both the design AND technical side of his mapping.

There are possibly too many paths at some points and as others have said the texture is plain but solid is better than fancy/buggy any day.

yeah this was my first time actaully producing a clean looking map(other then ub_downtown but it isnt that clean) and i didnt really want to create to much poly, this map is sorta my present to fourthx for teaching me about visioning with ub_rooftop... ty fourth

i was sorta scared of putting the doors into the walls thats why they are like that jitspoe... trying to reduce poly

1. Looks like a good start except for the brick texture overload

PS: Don't give up and don't jump the gun, be hard on yourself and look at good maps for both DP and other games. Obviously you can't do everything a modern game can do with DPs engine but you can aspire.

Considering a broad range of criteria I vote for Blitz. His play is near flawless unless he is playing around and he is rather good at being where the paint isn't flying and shooting where the enemy is. There are lots of good people I picked up technique from B is #1 to me.
