What's the performance like on the servers these days? I haven't played for ages but I see the pub servers are getting very busy.

Well, I'm glad I'm not paying the bill, the server has gone over it's bandwidth quota this month  :o

OK it's fixed, I had to rehost the website to heliohost.org quite a nice free webhost that supports PHP and just about everything else from the look of it.

Enjoy  ;D

And "password" will also give you level 50 access.

I've changed the passwords on the servers to "password" so you can log on to them. Working on a fix for tartbooker. Let me know how you get on.

Are you overclocking your graphics card?
Try underclocking it maybe.

Server Discussion / Need a new host for my DPMatchreserve website
« on: November 15, 2010, 12:24:00 PM »
Hi all, the free webhost that I use for my matchserver leasing site seems to have firewalled out access to the matchservers. I need to move to another free webhost that supports DPMatchreserve. I remember when I set this up initially that finding a free PHP host with the right ports open wasn't easy. If anyone can recommend a free host that they know works with DPMatchreserve I'd be very grateful, I don't get much time for this these days.

Tarts is back....

Seemingly my VPS provider has accidentally started it up again. Let's hope they dont realise (or bill me)  ;)

GUI sucks, try Midnight Commander I use it all the time. Webmin is pretty handy too. Not using standard ports to access the server is the best way to avoid being hacked.

Server Discussion / Tarts Dirty Den Closing down
« on: February 21, 2010, 12:07:28 AM »
Hi all, sorry to announce that pressures of work etc leave me little time for online gaming these days and I will not be renewing the subscritption for my VPS at the end of the month.
.
Thanks to all the people who have supported Tart's Dirty Den, I will probably drop in for a game now and then on Narcism or one of the other excellent Euro servers. If anyone is interested in taking over the VPS, get in touch but you'll have to be quick and no timewasters please.

Here's the costing:

CheapVPS384 VZ UK (29/01/2010 - 28/02/2010) £14.40 GBP
------------------------------------------------------
Sub Total: £14.40 GBP
17.50% VAT: £2.52 GBP

Total: £16.92 GBP per month

A lot of newbies are quite resistant to using IRC. Most of them use MSN messenger, facebook and the like. Maybe you could make DP more accessible by being less reliant on IRC?

Yes, excellent news! Apparently the site is still out there, it's just the domain name that has expired.

17
I've had a look around and the bad news is that it looks like the whole site has expired, not just the domain name. I did manage to find much of it in a web archive though:

http://web.archive.org/web/20080312152643/http://digitalpaint.therisenrealm.com/

I think the first thing we need to do is get hold of sk89q and see if we can get his permisson to use his stuff and find out if he has a backup. (Or even better persuade him to renew ;) )

18
I hope sk89q has an backup of it.
I'm sure we could find somewhere to rehost some or all of it if he does have a backup?

19
It's gone again :(

This domain name expired on Oct 07 2009 05:20PM. Click here to renew it.

This was a valuable resource, is there anything we can do get it back?

Server Discussion / Re: How Do You Keep a Server Up At All Times

we used screen to keep the server running on our old vps. "apt-get install screen"
Or Yum install screen for Centos and various others.
