Beta / In-Progress Maps / NEWMAP: Templer (Beta 1)

Templer is a remake of a classic map Temple.

The goal of this map was to give it a better look and not make it one chokey path.

The map has 8 spawns on each side, all with carbines.

There is a hidden room, with upgraded equipment and a shrine inside. This contains 1 automag and 1 autococker, and 2 steel barrels. (Each side has this room)

There are also a few other steel barrels hidden in the map.

Beta 2:

-Removed crate lights from the map.

-Changed grass to dirt in the mid on the small hills out of the water

-Added a ton of new lights

-Changed the barrels from large ones to smaller 32 unit ones. I’m not sure how much I like them, they just seem way too tiny and look out of place.

-Fixed the problem with physics going nuts on the mid pillars. For some reason they were not on the grid... I have no idea why two were not and the other 5 were fine, I copied and pasted the same pillars and moved them.

Beta 2 is attached, no new screen shots.

Beta 5

- Added trims for transition between the sand and brick textures

- Added lights over the crates in the corners (Steel barrel crates & Automag crates w/ steel barrel

- Added a _sun_color of 256 165 100. This gives it a more "sunset orangish look" similar to the Beta 1 lighting issues but this ones on purpose.

- Made the wall flush to the trim in between the metal trim on the entrances of the flag room.

I don't mean to disappoint but beta 4 didn't take me 10 years between betas this time lol....

-Made Clipz brushes around ladders haver the ladder texture flag. Hoping this fixes the climbing issue.

-Changed sun_ambient to sun_surface (also learned to use the value 1 and not 28) For ambient i always used 28 (idk why just did must have copied it from someone else map)

-Raised the sky box above the grates so we dont get the weird visual look.

-Added more grates in the mid/mid high areas.

Granted, it's been almost a decade since I touched this map. Dr Nilex, finally convinced me recently to do it.

I skipped a beta 2 release because I started a beta 2 way back in the day, added another path and a 2nd flag. (I don't think a 2nd flag would fit this map.)

What changed?

- All textures have been aligned. In the process I somehow made the wall textures scale 1 x 1.41. Before you write it off... It looks great, probably the best mistake I've made while mapping.

- Wood was rotated where it needed to be.

- Mid is a little bit larger, the speed jump from ledge to ledge is more difficult. I didn't intend for this, but I think it's better this way and will result in less flag captures.

- I added a banner to indicate team colors

- I changed it so you spawn with equipment now, no more loading co2 and finding guns and only having brass barrels. This map has 6 spawns per side: Containing 1 Automag, 1 Autococker, 1 Spyder, 1 Carbine and 2 VM's (Because they are op)

- Redesign of the "X" in the base

- Changed the floor textures in the tunnels and inside the bases to not make the map the same few textures.

- Added Clipz Brushes around the ladders/metal trim so people won't stop while jumping.

I'm hoping this can be the final beta and finally put this one behind me.

Foundpath is a remake/remaster of the classic map lostpath.

The goal for this map was to create a better gameplay and to give it a more modern look as well.

4T20 is another remake/remaster of a classic map called Fort20.

The goal of this map was to bring the quality of the map up to modern times and give it a gameplay buff.

We played this a few times today, first was a 2v2 and then a 4v4/5v5.

Maps fun, I really love your attention to detail. The beams over the flag look so cool.

As we spoke about yellow was tough to see with the grass. You said you will change it to blue probably.

Only other things I heard people on discord say that was negative is the double jump to the high back door area from the flag is tough.  I'm not a fan of trick jumps that lead to paths much and I think there may be a better option. Also the mid low seems somewhat awkward. It would be nice if there was an ice jump to get back to the main grass area above otherwise people can just trade flags and never see each other.

Hi DrNilex. I was playing social Saturday and I wanted to say great job on the map! I love the potential and then I also heard this is your first map!

I have a few points of feedback if you don't mind.

 1) The high route seems to be slower; I do like the aspect of being able to have multiple ways to the flag so people can't camp as easily though.

 2) The concrete texture is overused and just doesn't fit well in some areas. In some places it's the only texture visible. I think for example the path from in base to the low is 100% concrete. I think the texture looks nice but if you added a different ceiling color and a different floor, I think it will add a lot to the map then the same texture, it gets bland when its overused. Also the concrete texture in the mid, it looks very unnatural with how its shaped. I think a rock texture might be better for where you are trying to add details and different angels on the walls, concrete is usually a flat surface, it just looks awkward. If you need me to elaborate more on what I mean I can send you a screenshot.

 3) I don't think the 2nd flag is necessary and its awkwardly located. If you do want to keep it possibly make it so the high path can somehow be the quicker path to the 2nd flag. This would solve number one of the path being underused.

Overall great map and excellent work! I hope you continue to make maps because I enjoyed playing this one.
