Hi shreds, sounds cool.  Just looking for some fun people to play with, and if you're mostly older people that are getting back into the game I'd probably fit well :

If its only happening in DP, and happening on all DP servers, all I can think of is to check that your cmdrate and such weren't accidentally changed.  Otherwise it's probably a routing problem and there's not much you can do beyond calling your ISP to bug them about it or waiting and hope it resolves itself.

If you do "seta cl_drawfps 1" in console, what kind of FPS are you getting?  When you bring up the scores with tab, what kind of ping do you have?

Bumpity bump, really need some practice against good players / in a match environment :)

Oh and I have ts/vent if that matters.

When you say lag do you mean you are getting low FPS/frame spikes, or your latency (ping) to the server is high?

Figured that might be the case, but I wanted to ask before I spent a bunch of time experimenting.  Thanks :)

Mapping / Couple distance questions
« on: January 11, 2006, 09:31:30 AM »
I managed to find the player height and normal jump height by searching, but I couldn't find anything on jump distances.  Anyone know what the max horizontal jump distance, and a typical jump distance that requires a good but not quite perfect strafe jump are, from both a straight running start and at bunnyhop speeds?

Yea I really don't know why they hardcapped it in the engine, I guess so that people who have amazing rigs and can run the game at amazing framerates don't have any sort of advantage :\   How did you do it in DP?

Actually your name sticks out in my mind because I remember playing a few times with you where you were tearing it up and wondering "who the hell is this guy, never seen him before" :p

Doom 3 (and quake 4 incidentally since it uses the same engine) caps game updates at 60/sec, so it caps the FPS at that as well since you'd just be rendering duplicate frames and wasting processing power if you went above 60.   It might actually be 63 I'm not sure if thats a bug in the FPS display or they actually capped it at 63 but shrug.

Will do.  I definitely remember your name from back then.  Not sure if I ever played with/against you in clan matches but I definitely remember playing some pubs with you.  Don't recognize too many other names so far other than jits, fryth, crazylady, blitz, ich, and taco.

Addition: oh and s8n, if he used to go by s8nsson or however he spelled it.

I used to use arrow keys back when i first picked up this game, since Q2 was the first FPS i played with keyboard/mouse and I was used to just pressing the arrow keys in Doom/Wolf3d etc.  Tried WSAD after one of my RL friends who played the game at the time as well showed me his setup and liked it a lot better.  You don't have to stretch your fingers out nearly as far and there are more keys accessible for games where you need a lot of binds.
