I mainly stopped playing because of real life reasons; lost a lot of spare time I used to have. When the excrementstorm finally cleared, I thought of coming back to DP, but ultimately gave up for one single reason.

Which is the sheer immaturity of the comp community in this game, as seen in this very thread. Having played other games competitively(Tribes: Ascend is what I'm playing right now), DP definitely has the most immature and egoistic of them all. Of course, there are exceptions like blaa and the other ballers(I only really remember the euro players, didn't play much against americans).

The way most new players get into comp in pretty much all games is via newbie clans. The kind of clans that go around pubs asking for people to join. Usually, some clan members eventually see the rest of the clan is really bad and want to hop onto a new team/start a new team with some friends they made there. That's how I got into the comp community, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one.

DP's comp community actively discourages newbies from making the leap of getting into a new clan by being outstanding idiots to absolutely everyone. Stepping it up a notch means playing against and dealing with these people, and most people just don't seem to want to do this.

I really don't know how to fix this and what's caused this, but I'm almost certain this is part of the cause why the comp scene isn't benefiting from the obviously high download numbers of the game.

Wait what? Rocky, from what I gather, you're still on build 29?

Build 31 has meddling interpolated hitboxes, which is the best thing that happened to DP since it became standalone.

After checking up on the site, I found out that build 31 is out, so I decided to give it a go. However, after visiting the downloads section, I noticed a severe error.

As you can see, the whole first segment is intercoursed up. Happens both on Opera and Firefox. Haven't tested it yet on IE.

Could someone post me a link since I can't access it from there?

Can't you just limit the fps to have it perform the way you would like? I don't know a lot about these things but I limited mine to 30 fps just because I was trying to stop my crashes. Although this didn't help my crashes it has hooked me into playing it that way. Everything seems a little blurry but it plays awesome after a few beers.
Just put vsync on, still not too much fps, but it's more comfortable to play.

I'm pretty sure we're looking for people who actually attempt to make positive impacts on the community, as we figure those people are a lot less likely to mess with stuff and show more maturity :/
That's pretty much the definition of me.

Mr. flip will be drinking some Warsteiner and watching the game. I plan on drinking a case per goal made by Germany. I should be good and dead before the sun goes down.

I agree on all points sir. Well put.

Just noticed this. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

What was so exciting? All I saw was Uruguay being out classed by the youngest team in the tournament. When they couldn't hang they tried very hard to get free kicks because they knew that was the only way they could have a chance. Very poor sportsmanship. This is why most Americans will never watch the sport.
The last minutes as in the last 3 minutes. The flipper before the penalty was amusing ^^

And yeah, I agree on the bad sportmanship of Uruguay, but at least they weren't as bad as France.

I mean, they revolted for a low paycheck and they earn more per year than all of the people on this forum will in their whole lives. Idiots.

The last minutes of Ghana - Uruguay were amazing

I'm really looking forward to the semifinal. The matches are going to be interesting.

Brazil - Korea reminded me of Inter - Barcelona. One side pushed and the other bunkered up. It was a pretty fun match to watch though.

The Koreans actually put up resistance, even though they never played real football. They really deserved that last goal.

Maicon's goal was pretty stunning. I think we're going to see a lot more attempts of scoring from such a high angle from other players now because he succeded ;)

Why does one need an arm to play football anyway?

my underdog favorite would be ivory coast.
Ivory Coast can't be an underdog. They have Drogba.
