I like this idea Jitspoe, I don't think it would be a violation of privacy accept, like others mentions it should be made known via the EULA.  Also, will this prevent people from claiming that I or someone else is hacking, when in fact that is not true?  My idea is that, if their computer is scanned, nothing is detected, could we put a little green light on the scoreboard or something silly like that?  The reason I bring this up, is because for the first time in....a very long time....I played some pball and not 20 minutes into playing I was being accused of being a hacker....  I know this is something that is probably impossible to get rid of, but I figured it's worth a shot.

**Upon further reading about Build 16, I'm now an idiot, I didnt realise global ban existed**

I know I haven't posted in a good long while, but I have brought this up before, and the only reason I can think of now to use this is for permanent ban accross ALL servers for people who generally abuse the game.  That being said, too much power in the wrong hands could be a bad thing.

In all honesty, this is a modified Quake 2 engine game, I don't know that something like this would be easily implemented, unless Jitspoe speaks otherwise.

Jits, I haven't had any problems (fingers crossed) with this release, and I must say, nice job.

upon further review, it only happens when you click on update, not on refresh, so if you dont feel like fixing it, i dont blame ya =)

For starters, the menu in-game = fantastic, nice work sir.  Also, i'm not sure why you got rid of the crazy moving console back, but thats ok, I don't mind.  The only thing that i noticed that was wrong was that in the ingame server browser, all servers show up properly, but with a 999 ping, im not sure if this is my machine or a bug, I have tried restarting/shutting all other apps off, and nothing worked.  I could, however, connect to servers properly, so i'm kinda stumped.  Otherwise, keep up the good work!!

p.s. double clicking is much appreciated.

This definately would add something wacky to this game, to me it could fit in quite well. =)

heh, yeah, ive used the driver cleaner once or twice now, and have tried the latest drivers.  When I use the latest drivers, I lose the tv-out functionality along with the entire nvidia properties area, where i can customize my refresh rates and such.  So I've been leary to try this again.  Although, maybe ill give it another try, hopefully it will work.

When i have the console down/menu open. it sits right around 25 fps when im not doing something, if im monkeying around in the menu its all over the place, generally lower.  I have the res set to 1280x960, which is generally what i play most games at, the refresh rate is set to 75 as well.  I can tolerate it, but if you want/are going to change it, im not going to say no =).  BTW, in game my framerate stays at 72 consistantly, no slowdowns, which is why I posed the question in the first place.

That sounds like it would fit right in with the anti-real paintball feel, and does sound like a lot of fun. Could maybe make the kick ridiculous, like dying in QW pball, and have only traccers and pgp's on the maps. something to limit the spray like your looking for. Just another idea to throw around.

its not the need for people to upgrade their machines, my system specs look something like this:
1.4ghz AMD
1024 MB of ram
Geforce4 TI4200
etc
It lags for me, so its not a matter of people upgrading their machines, i think maybe an option in the menu for one animated and one non-amimated option. It doesnt matter what either look like, if people dont want it animated then they can just disable it, and not worry about it.

This may be all well and good, but, maybe im mistaken, don't you need some sort of central server to keep track of this??? or will the regular dedicated server keep track of this between them selves?

well, if you put it in so that you need to time it. IE you need push say the f key to prime it, time goes 1....2....3...(etc.) then the f key again to toss it (at any time during th count down), that could make using the grenades a bit more challenging to use, and on top of this you could maybe change the size of explosion????. I mean i can see fourthX's point, you can get a good spread by doing this. im not sure, maybe i just dont like being able to instantly toss them, just IMO.  But putting a primer on them and using the non instant grenade explosion might make them...not as deadly???? IDK, im confusing my self now =P

right, bottlenecking maps destroy any type of real teamplay involved, aside from lets all rush and hope one guy gets through.  These maps include strap and pbcup, to which i say no thanks.

« on: April 09, 2004, 09:15:02 AM »
i thought of something else, i noticed that some of the other threads pertain to global stats, this might be the oportunity to pull all of that into something bigger, one feature being those stats.   I know very little about programing, so i have no idea how the logistics would be to do something like this, but if you can find a way to do this, all the more power to ya.

yeah, most of the features wouldnt do so well, but if you had the ambition and the servers, and made your own 'steam' it could be neat.
