Resolved Help & Support / Re: Shooting delay...?

Prob high ping check it, I am only playing on dial up at present, not betting BB till the winter, the best thing I have found is if you are playing on dial up:

Plan you shots a little in advance if you can, try and predict the other teams move, of course in crazy fire its not possible.

If many of your team members have a lower ping than you try not to get in their way, try being back support etc, of guarding the base.....it will not slow them down.

Try a more steady approach to your attack rather than a charge.

All these things have helped me as I have a high ping at present

Thanks for your comments, I can see the points RE frustration, but it's no different in real life paintball I have been playing this for more years than I care to remember.

Like I said in my first post when playing in public arena or going to a paintball site for fun it's an all for all and good fun and very mixed ability.

In pro paintball when we want to play a more serious game we enter tournamounts which we pay a high fee to play in and this for teams only, not novices, that is what I thought the dedicated servers are for.....it would be a good idea for those wishing to play a more serious game to stick to those rather than getting angry.

But hay I am more or less sussing it out and after doing pretty well at the weekend all was cool.

On another note are thier any hints and tips around the achieve better play please.

jaydog,

You will find that less than 5% of the DP community are like that.  But with all boys and their bursting testosterone levels, they need to beat their chests.

*KnacK looks over at Skater, pokes him in the eye and says "n00b!"

Thanks knack I have realised as a whole everyone is great and helpful at pointing you in the right direction, I was playing for 3 hours on sat and it was great no issues and good clean fun.

Sorry about the bad typos in that post I was doing the post at work trying to avoiding the gaffer.

I guess the abuse I bumped into must have been some angry lads on half term bless um.

I have only started playeing this game after looking up some software for my SQL on opensource site I use, I came across this game and as an real life paintballer of 20 years or so I thought I would give this a look. What with having to give up real paintballing due to now owning a house and the costs involved in real paintball, I thought this looked a good alternative.

Less active but fun all the same. I have noticed a lot of very bad attitudes towards new players, I am sure even the most seasoned arm-chair paintballers of this game were new once ?.

The thing is if people wanted exclusive pro games only they would play on locked non public servers, a very easy option to take to prevent that.

In actual paintball games are played according to your teams ability when in competition level, but when playing in a public arena its a good fun free for all.

I will only play now and again and I am in the middle of doing up a house and workign full time so should that keep me in the noob field forever then so be it. But most all I am enjoying the game and its great fun and to be fair 99% of the public players are a helpful friendly bunch.

Resolved Help & Support / Newbie here; a few questions
« on: May 02, 2006, 03:06:28 AM »
Hi DP Forum,

Well I am new to online gaming this is actually the first online game i have taken part in so be kind folks we were all new once at something.

Off line I have been playing URT2003 for sometime on LAN but not online ever.

I found this game last week when looking around sourceforge.net I went home loaded it and with in minutes I was hopping onto public games and it's been addictive ever since. I thought I would give it a crack as I have been playing Real Paintball since the late 1980s.

I have a few questions and Digtal Paintball Virgin.
Any help woud be great.

1/ When I refresh the server list is their any games I should not just hop in and join ?

2/ Is their any rules that should be followed about playing on the servers.

3/ Also any help clues and tips for a new person.

4/ And the final one, as I go into a new game it take some time for new maps, images and sounds to load up, is their any place or way I can download all of this in advance and copy them to a folder on the PC to save this wait.

Many thanks and any clues, links and tips for a new guy will be great.....

One thing that I like about this is I am getting to old for the pain from real paintballs, this is darn fine alternative.

Cheers for now.

Jay
