Linux has 2 menus
« on: October 31, 2007, 11:43:52 PM »
I installed Ubuntu onto my comp the other night and once installed and logged in there was the standard menu up the top and there was one down the bottom of the screen.  When i clicked applications the menu down the bottom brought the menu down the bottom did as well.  The bottom part only goes for about 1/10 of a window.  All of the text on the screen is squashed as well and i cant switch workspaces due to the fact that that menu down the bottom takes the space that the workspace switches and the switch application bar was on.  I can only use desktop effects cube option with compiz to use multiple workspaces.  Any Ideas?

If you right click on that bottom panel you should get a Properties, Configure... or Settings option.  In there it should allow you to adjust the orientation and width of the panel.  I haven't used Ubuntu in a while (I'm using Kubuntu), so it may be just a matter of going into the Panel Properties and checking the Expand checkbox as seen here:

Don't mess too much with the size value, that's just the height.
