Ummm could you clue us in as to what it is that you are attempting to do or are you expecting us to read your mind and conclude that you're attempting to set up a linux based Digital Paintball server?  ;D

Are you trying to install it on a linux machine or a windows based machine?

The linux installer can be found here: http://qudos.quakedev.com/tmp/
Code: [Select]
wget -c http://qudos.quakedev.com/tmp/Paintball2_build017-2_full.run
sudo sh Paintball2_build017-2_full.run
What distro are you running? You might have to su if you want to install it as root.

Nice block Tinman... With all due respect...  Let the kid answer my question first...  If you can read above, he clearly states that he is trying to install the game so "He can play".

It looks to me like he might be trying to install paintball2_build016_linux_full.tar.gz on his Windows OS as he states "Ok well the full linux.tar.gz on here has the window files or something cause the folder has a exe. Im trying to install pball so i can play it"

If his OS is linux then http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetquake/digitalpaint/paintball2_build016_linux_full.tar.gz is the correct file and we can instruct him on what to do next.

If his OS is Windows then http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetquake/digitalpaint/paintball2_build016_full.exe is what he needs.

It's also very clear to me based on his very first post he wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about.

Either way, until he answers my last question, we're really wasting our time assuming.   ;)

Why would he DL the linux.tar.gz for windows? He's posted on these forums before, so he's probably played the game before, and may have installed it before, and would know what he needs to install it with in whatever he's been using.
You "can play" in linux.
The paintball2_build016_linux_full.tar.gz is outdated and audio doesn't work on most systems, which is why to install in linux you'd use the build that QuDos made from the CVS that has all the bug fixes.
He said he had an "exe", and it seemed that it wasn't what he was looking for.
If he honestly went to the files page and downloaded the linux port when looking for the windows one then why would he name this thread linux? Why not "Where is windows!?!?1/111uno"
And many people who ask questions about installing on linux do need help because they're new to it, and he seemed like he'd be needing some help.

Linux Installer thread: http://dpball.com/forums/index.php?topic=2734.0
QuDos's latest build: http://qudos.quakedev.com/tmp/

Read that first thread, then get the latest installer that QuDos has made and use it to install, post any problems with it to that thread.

And yes, Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian.
