Which old and new game systems would you choose to have.
« on: December 31, 2007, 01:07:03 PM »
I was just wondering what game system would you choose from the every game system  out there and the ones that are old.The Wii is for the ex-gamecubers.The Ps3 is for the  ex-Ps2ers.The 360 is for the ex-xboxers.You decide.I personally would choose a Xbox 360 if I didn't already have one :D

I'll go with Xbox cos if you think its best you are probably right. You are always right with the best things, like when you picked me :P

santa brought the KnacK family a PS3.

Uber neat and uber expensive.

If I had to do it again I would put the money in a pc.

So I go and hook the ps3 up to my hd plasma 1080p compliant tv and don;'t get a picture. Come to find out that the ps3 uses HDCP and will only talk to a HDCP monitor.

POFS!!

HDCP isnt even required but yet Sony requires it.

It's silly to include the portables in that list. >_>

Anyway, I'd go with:
1. 360
2. Wii
3. PS3

Mostly because the PS3 doesn't have much going for it right now. I think it might be fair to say it's more powerful than the 360, but there aren't yet any really good exclusive games for it. GTA4 is going to have 360-only content, and MGS4 keeps getting delayed. Anyway, I don't like either of those games.
And though the PS3's internet stuff is free, it's hardly worth having compared to the 360's. Plus, Xbox Live is only $5 a month.
The Wii is fun, but I don't think it has the staying power that traditional consoles do. The motion-remote thing takes away a level of abstraction that makes significantly different control schemes on the same controller be able to work. In other words, the control system is new and fun, but too simple. There's only so much you can do.

As jits and others have said, though, PC > all. Though with the consoles (or at least the 360), you get much more processing power for your buck.

360.... way too expensive when you start breaking down all the options you have to pay for which come on a ps3 standard. Not to mention all the modding that can be done to ps3's. Wii would be nice for a family because it requires activity to play. a new pc would be nice but i'm holding out for my $10,000 computer i want.

I have a 360 premium and a Wii, I wish I had a PS3 though, especially since I have all these backwards compatible PS2 games....

Ya but you need to make sure that your tv or monitor is HDCP compliant in order to watch it in all of its HD goodness.  If I would have known that before I bought the PS3, I probably would have bought a 360.

In this day and age you should make sure your tv is compatible with HDCP anyways. Many great tv's are out there but my favorite for the price is best buy's brand insignia. Couldn't be happier with it. My top of the line Samsung is just groovy too. Both t.v.'s pick up extra cable channels and also pick up peoples satellite pay per view. :P
If you would prefer to have a 360 knackers let me know... I might go buy one and trade you for your ps3 since my brother in law got himself a psp for christmas he now wants to get a ps3.
