.mdl help
« on: January 13, 2008, 01:20:50 AM »
I have some models I have found free on the internet but they are in the .mdl file format.  Could anyone point me in the right direction so I can convert these files to the files supported by dp?
Many thanks

qME (Quake Model Editor), import MDL export MD2 (Quake 2 format)
MilkShape 3D (Free trial available), import MDL, export MD2 or SMD (Then convert SMD to SKM (Skeletal Model) using SKModeler 1.2)

Thanks for the help.  Which type of file format will make the models look better in game? MD2 or SKM

MD2 has limitations on vertices, triangles, etc.  I recommend SKM despite the fact it's harder to setup.  They should look the same in game :)

Thanks for the help.
One last question.  Does anyone have any links to free model packs and when is the community model pack coming out?
Edit:  qME does not open the .mdl file so I am trying the Milkshape3D way.  qME seems really outdated anyway.

It's one of those two, one works, one doesn't, you'll figure it out after the first time you check the console, and when you do let me know because I keep forgetting to delete mine, and I never have Blender open to test it when I'm thinking of i t... haha

edit: I have those Zorch, but thanks bud
