New Map: Highlander DM
« on: July 01, 2007, 01:32:08 PM »
Wow, this is my 3rd map in beta right now. I'll have to finish one soon. Anyway, this is a small DM map, small enough to be 1v1 but big enough for 8 players. Screenies and download attached.

Thanks to zorch for getting the model to work.

Looks good, kinda 'empty' but good. Oh, and you might want to fix the visor texture.

Can you even get to a location where you can see the visor?  I can only see about 2 pixels of it off in the distance.  It's probably fine.

You need to fix the angle of a lot of the spawn points.  I'd spawn facing the wall a lot and get shot by a bot.  The upper area is kind of weird.  You can go up there and see ledges all over the map, but everything is blocked off by clip brushes.  It just feels unnatural somehow.  Might be better to either let people go everywhere, or completely seal the top area off so you can't see into other areas of the map.  The latter would improve the rspeeds.

You really need to work with some 3D clipping planes and help make the cliff walls look more natural.  You've done well curving them in some areas, but they're still using 2D planes.  Shift + Right Click is your friend.  Use it often.

I've uploaded this to the beta server.

Ok, there's a problem with your func_model.  You need to use the .md2 extension even if you're using an skm file otherwise the downloading doesn't work right.
