Introduction Section
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:14:41 AM »
How about a new "Introduce Yourself" section for new members. There are so many new registrations every day, but I barely see any of these people post... might be they are nervous about the first post? An Introductions section might make the transition a little easier for them?

maybe... but i've seen other introduction section... it's just a lot of "Hi, my name is so and so." and that's it... but i wouldn't be a bad idea to try it out and see...

Lol, good idea.  But what lekky said is a better idea.  Its always there.  That topic may go to teh 3rd page and no-one new would know its there.

I usually wait until there are a lot of posts on a particular subject before creating a subforum for it.  I hate forums that have 100 different sections, most of which have 1 or 2 threads in them.  If there are only a couple introduction threads, there will probably only be a couple introduction threads in this new section.

New members will not make an introduction thread if a place doesn't exist for them to do it... Many forums have I frequent have a place for these posts and they are used a lot.

There will be no threads in it to begin with, the link Cameron gave isn't the kind of thing i'm talking about. It should fill up when new people register. Its not really a subject either, its a method of making it easier for new members to integrate into the forum community, rather than the 5-10 new members a day never being seen?

Just make a thread for new players and sticky it.
