The feature vote is more or less a prioritized todo list.  If a feature has a lot of votes, I know it should probably be worked on sooner.  I don't necessarily work on just the feature with the most votes.

Good! And make sure you take the percentage of people saying 'no' to it in to account.
It might have 70 + votes, but it might also have 20 - votes.

That is factored into the feature vote already.
