Do we have any professional table tennis players here? I'm wanting to buy a bat/paddle/racket/whatever but for what is essentially a piece of wood with some rubber on it there is a million different criteria to think about! :/ Anyone have some advice for a first bat?

Well, I have been on some tournaments but I wouldn't call myself professional.
Anyway: http://www.stigatabletennis.com/info.asp?Prod=bats&ProdId=136
That's the one I use but all the stiga paddles are good.

My uncle's been a semi-pro in ping-pong back in the day. R.I.P.
Here's a pic of him on a tourney with his miraculous bat: http://www.longislandexchange.com/press/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/Jerry-Maren.jpg
