help with lighting plz?

i tryed adding lights to my map im making on bsp but they dont work!!! i used the serface menu, the entities menu and the light emiting textures to make lights. when i run the map the lights dont light up! i have serched all over the internet and the foms help plz!!  ??? ??? 

o one more thiing this is a little off topic but if u know, how do u make transparent platforms and walls with the defult textures??

Sounds like you're not using the right exporter. Use final compile.bat.

For transparent textures, click the brush you want then hit "S." From there check mark trans33 or trans66 depending on how clear you want it, then hit "Apply Brush."

You can also use qbsp.fastvis rad.bat for just testing the lights, use final compile before you release a new (beta) version of the map.

For totally invisible platforms do what Spook said but use the nodraw flag instead.
