If the school sys admin is worth anything, all of the proxies are blocked at the firewall, just like I do here.

You might find success with mibbit. It's a web-based (no java..) IRC client that offers GGC among other networks.

IT at my work is smart enough to block it though.

That's pretty slick.  We use IRC at work to communicate internally, but external ports are blocked.  Kind of ironic.

Please post a few error messages that you get when you try to use a web based proxy.  That might be helpful.

You cannot access the following Web address:
http://proxy.org/

The site you requested is blocked under the following categories: Anonymizers

You can:
Submit a site review request to your network administrator.

Temporarily override filtering on this computer if you have an override name and password. (Note that your administrator may be notified that you've bypassed filtering.)

Use your browser's Back button or enter a different Web address to continue.

Good Luck.  They're blocking sites similar to Surfcontrol.

As iEATnoobs said www.toonel.net is your friend.

Setup your browser to use a proxy with the ip as 127.0.0.1 and port 8080 and run toonel

FULL ACCESS

I use it at college too when downloading torrents because it changes my ip but DON'T USE IT TO HACK DP OR YOU WILL DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
