Fish demonstration thread!
« on: December 21, 2007, 05:53:44 PM »
I made this thread (instead of just sticking it in the freedom one) because I have some questions of my own.

Below is the fish demonstration map. To one end of the river is how I want the fish to look. All the rest of the 'fish' (aka red metal rectangles) show how I'd like them to behave.

But, for whatever reason, I can't get a func_rotating to use a transparent texture. Anyone have any clue how to, if it's even possible?

I don't think you can use alpha'd (textures with an alpha value used for transparency) textures on entities, especially those that move.

Could you post the map as a BSP, i hate loading up the editor and that to look at these things.

Cheers,

Dagless

There should be a BSP in there. Let me check.

...yep. fish.zip/pball/maps/fish.bsp.

edit: ahahaha the textured fish makes me giggle like a japanese schoolgirl.

it's a real shame we can't animate the texture-fish, although   it may be possible in specific circumstances to get a good effect going using rscripts, etc...

I don't think I ever applied the fix for moving transparent surfaces.  I've seen it fixed in other q2 engines, though.

Would it be too much trouble? :D
Seems like you could just copy it from other engines.
