While there's a server side "swear_filter" setting, it's pretty generic and uncustomizable.  I think having a client-side setting where people could add words to a filter file or something would work best.  It would probably be sufficient just to remove any message containing a word from the list.  I think if I did that, I'd ship it with words like "hack", "cheat", "hax", etc. in it.

could there possibly be a server side filter that would change what the person said to what the server admin wants? like when a person says word A it is replaced with word B and all of the players see word B.

and this is {appy Hamper's idea not mine, so i cant take the credit

The client side would be great. It would allow people to customize it to their tastes. It would also get rid of the problem of people evading the filter with near swear words, mispelled words, l33t speak, etc. They could say what they wanted so they would have no reason to evade, and we could block it out so we would have no reason to complain.

I would not object to any server side one either.

M7... Off subject are you really 7 feet tall and could you share your age? Also, for what it's worth, I appreciate your demeanor on the forums... Many of the present users of this forum could learn from your Internet etiquette - Thanks :)

P!nk has a good memory :)

And thank you for the compliment.  I am in my early 30's.
