Headphone advice - should I buy these?
« on: August 18, 2010, 10:47:30 AM »
Helloo.

I'm in need of a pair of headphones soon and I'm wondering whether there's a better alternative to the Sennheiser HD 201 ones which I'm thinking of buying at the moment. I'm prepared to spend 40€ at most.
Here's some info about them:

Headphone Type: Closed and goes around the ear (Most preferred)
Frequency Response: 21 - 18000Hz
Isolation: 10 dB
Price: 24€ (in Finland)

I'm not overly fond of the color or the plasticky-ness

I'd prefer this look more, just to give you an idea:

I'm looking for all around headphones, so having them be bass/music/voice/game oriented would probably be a minus.
Any thoughts?

Woah,

turns out the uncomfortable, mediocre sounding headphones that I've had lying next to me for a few years were actually Beyerdynamic DT990's that were made in 1985. Guess I'll just fix the padding and hope that we have an amp lying around for these 600Ω cans somewhere..

these cost over $200 $350 when they were released  :o

The reason why I haven't been content with these is because they are uncomfortable, so if I succeed in refilling the pads with something, I'll probably be spared from buying new headphones for now.

Edit: I found something nice (it's from a timeline)

Buy some memory foam and electrical tape. The idea is to tape the memory foam on and wrap it to look professional without compressing the foam to much. Should ease the discomfort.
