Using high res textures in BSP.

I just downloaded some high res textures. How do I use them as textures for brushes in BSP?

You don't need them for bsp. Just map with the normal textures.

Correct, there're high res textures ingame, but you don't need them for bsp.

Put the textures to your pball textures folder (.../pball/textures/pball/hr4/). Note that this have nothing to do with bsp.

Example

If you have the (low res) texture ...pball/textures/pball/grass1_8.jpg (128x128),
you need the (high res) texture ...pball/textures/pball/hr4/grass1_8.jpg (512x512).

I converted a high res texture that was originally a .JPEG file into a .WAL file. This is what it looked like after the conversion.

As Chef-Killer said, you _don't_ need to do anything with BSP in order to get high-res textures in-game - the game automatically replaces the textures as they load. Using high res textures as .wal files in BSP will only result in your textures being out of proportion. There is a way to use .jpg files for high-res textures in BSP but this is only for previewing and does not affect the final product.

Where's the download link? BTW, I kind of stopped map editing because my computer cann't handle it.

Like I said, I don't map anymore because my computer sucks. Maybe once I upgrade my hardware I will.

Go where Jimmy said, right click the file and save file as (firefox) or save link as (ie).

I figured out that you use the SD/LD textures as the .wal file. The computer that is looking for the textures looks for the picture file that has the same name as the .wal file. If the person has the picture with the same name in the hr4 directory and has HD textures enabled, it will load that one instead.
