Computer Crashes
« on: December 16, 2011, 05:22:47 PM »
Hey, my computer has been crashing quite regularly during matches on DP. By regularly, I mean like 10+ times haha. It seems to be something to do with DP, because I haven't witnessed it crash whilst not in DP. When it crashes, there is no blue screens, it just turns itself off. I use to get a Trap bluescreen, not sure of the error code thought. I remember looking it up and most websites said that it could be caused by faulty RAM/Motherboard. I've also reinstalled windows to no avail. Should I just take out one of the RAM's and see how it goes?

my suggestion to you would be to try shutting off some programs that are not in use. Try this and tell us what the result is : Press alt + ctrl + delete, then go to performance. And take a screenshot when your dp crashes.

thnx,

I had a similar issue on my old excrementbox when I put a 1GB chip in it, and the PC would well yeah, reboot because of it if I started using heaps of the memory.  Took the chip out and didn't have any issues (aside from only having 1GB left :() so yeah give the memory a shot.  New computer... allllllll goooooooodddddddddd.

My computer Crashes. :)

Run Memtest to check your RAMs before you randomly remove one of them.

You should install prime95 and furmark and run some stress tests.

Over heating? Comp does get very hot. What do you suggest? Point a fan at it? Haha.

I'll be home later today, so I'll give 'em a go!

You should also look through the event viewer for errors around the time of the crash.

if it is only happening while playing DP then apparently someone might have a script running on the server that your computer can not handle, like a SynFlood script which overloads all your processes and ram to cause shutdown. (Only immunity to a SynFlood script would be to have a system more powerful than the one sending it and connected on a T3 or higher, Cable and DSL stand no chance against Synflooding) Have someone check the servers for running scripts. I used to host on a chat server and ran SynFlood scripts on certain persons causing some problems when they could bypass a ban. Especially if the servers run PHP software as those scripts are very easy to come by freely. Just something else to check, sounds fishy to me.

I actually have a 250w atx PSU. If you want it, pay for shipping.

My old laptop used to crash during DP and 99% of the time it's because it would shut itself off so that it didn't overheat. When I kept it cool, no problemos senor.
