Cheat cvars

I'm new to the board and somewhat to the game. Anyway, how do I use the 'cheat' cvars like gl_lightmap on my own server? I need them for testing purposes and setting cheats to 1 doesn't do anything :/

Make sure the server has a player limit of one, there are a few other conditions I forget right now

It doesn't seem to be possible to set the limit to 1. It always goes back to 8, any other number works though.

Edit: Nevermind! I figured it out. Had to set deathmatch to 0.
