map conversion
« on: June 13, 2006, 08:11:42 AM »
ok, i can ALMOST guarntee that nobody here knows the awnser, but i'll ask anyway, just to be annoying.

i have about 10 O.K. maps here, made for PB3D in a program called 3D gamestudio www.3dgamestudio.com if PB3D burns out into nothing, i would like to donate these maps to DP2.

ok so here's the problem, i can build to the following formats:
.wmb .$$M and .map
so how do i take those, convert them into something a BSP editor can use, and add player/weapon/flag spawn zones, and anything else i may need.

any ideas?

The .map should be all you need.

You must use http://dt.houstonareacomputers.com/bsp_pb2_build015.zip
But I think you will need a map to map converter.
If you want send me your map in pm and I can help you

First off, grab http://dpball.com/files/mapmaking/bsp_pb2_build015b.zip instead.  Second, what's on line 46?  You might be using an incompatible .map format.

ok, so i found that the .map i was saving to is a quake2.map format, so i should have no problems with that.

i tried the other link jitspoe sent me, and at least i got a diffrent error, just the "normal" windows has encounterd a problem "send and dont send" error.

so, did i do something wrong?

That's one downside to BSP.  Like just about every other editor at the time, it's extremely unstable.

grrr, that didint seem to help either, all my textures are just grey in the view, even after i added all the textures used with that map.
ohhh well, i just need to paint 2000+ faces, no big deal.
