[BUG] Difference in Build 37 Linux and Win32 servers
« on: December 23, 2012, 12:47:47 PM »
I found out there is pretty noticable difference in physics in those 2 servers. I am able do my usual jumps on win32 server, but not on linux.

To demonstrate it:
Demo #1 EU, local server
I can sucessfully make that dj 3 times in a row

Demo #2 US, Supermans Match 1
I coudlnt do it even once

Demo #3 EU, OTB Match 2
Again did it three times in a row without any difficulties

EDIT:JUst tested it on CP (BUild 36 Win32) and everything is fine, i think there is something wrong with the linux version, my mates, picky and luckmore, are having huge lag spikes on supermans, and its not because of high ping. 100% Positive it has to do something with supermans or linux server.
Could someone try it out?

Nope, it has nothing to do with ping.

When i switch netgraph at linux server(All supermans server) on, it goes up and down, and i get every second lags (Looks like ping lag, but it is not my ping and also not my fps) Its not possible to play, but when i go to cp Servers(win), i have same ping and same fps and dont lag.

I fixed that problem through installing build37 update, again.(Then it was possible for 1 match to play on supermans server)
But after 1 day the same issue occured again.

Superman has the old physics setting enabled on his servers, I believe.

Thats your local version. You can see the server version if you type "info" in the console.

Heh, that would explain the jumping issues.

Did you always run linux? I would swear i saw Win32 in console few days ago but guess i was wrong.

Type "ver" to get the game version running on the server.  You can also type "cvar_get sv_oldmovephysics" to see if the server is running with the old movement setting enabled.  I think in the future, I'd like to make the movement setting client side, as it tends to be personal preference on the little nuances.

Ok, that makes it clear it isnt about linux/win32.

Not sure if its the best solution. Nuances might be little, but its pretty important when it comes to making up strategy on how to approach the enemy.
Example: Wobluda, trying to kill enemy on hill. With new movement i know he wont just slide over (by accident) and be open for free kill -> I wont be so aggressive in lining the hill and will focus more on trying to go around him. I couldnt do it without knowing if he has old movement enabled or not. It isnt the best example, but hope you get the idea.
