recording demo?
« on: May 15, 2013, 11:35:11 AM »
Hey guys!

I search for the commands: start to record a demo, stop to record a demo.
Could you tell me the commands? Would be great!
And how to convert a dm2 file in a avi (or just a random video file)?

THX for reading.

To begin recording:   record <filename>                  Example:  record airtimedemo                    airtimedemo.dm2 will be recorded to your demo folder.

To stop recording:     stop

DP2Demo2AVI:  ftp://otb-server.de/pub/Tools/DP2Demo2AVI/dp2demo2avi_0.5b2.exe

Really, don't bother with dp2demo2avi, it's completely terrible.

The current recording will always be stopped when the map ends.
That's actually not true.  It happens on match servers because of the autorecord, but you can record past map changes with a normal record.

As for converting demos to avi, you'd probably be best off using some sort of recording software like fraps.

Oh I had no idea.  I've never seen a demo where the map changed in between, they usually always end with "server killed" or whatever it says.  I guess I haven't watched a demo in a few years though...

I kinda-sorta got it working so it will load the next map in a demo, but it usually craps out if there are any brush entities in the map (doors/platforms/etc.)
