Need a map makers help
« on: June 29, 2006, 12:42:56 PM »
 ;D

I need a map maker to help with an idea.

If I give you an overhead photo of a real field can you try to make a map out of it for me?

The idea here is to make based on a local field that I play at.

Figure I can make a bomb out of ducktape, a tampoon, and some bubble but can't make a map right.

Here is the field photo, I have more to include if anyone else wants to take a crack at it.

I will try to get a pic of the bomb later. LOL

No. A map of that size would probably break Q2's compiling-size limits, and nobody would (for free) make you a map with such so many detailed objects to be implimented into it. No, no, no!

Here is some more info on the field

Numbers are as follows.

1.   is the Alamo (third photo)
2.   A plane fuselage that we have there
3.   is a van and a pick up
4.   is the stageing area (second photo)
7.   is a pond
8.   the land drops down here about 20 feet below the main field, also the main field is about 10 feet higher then the staging area.

Thank you for you help with this idea. You can design the field however you want as long as it resembles the real field. The Alamo (can just be a fort), Plane, Van, Truck , and VW Bugs need to be there as that is what makes this field ours. Please feel free to add in or take out what ever you would like.

Never said it had to be huge I am just looking for something that is based off that field. The rec field that we play on goes from just left of the alamo #1 to the brushes that are left of #4 pretty much what you see in the bottom pic is the rec field

It's not THAT big.  You can make maps over 1/8th of a mile in length and still be in the Quake2 bounds.  A lot more than that if you snake it instead of having an open field.

An 1/8 of a mile isn't as long when everyone can run at 20 MPH.
