Suggestion for new load screen
« on: June 26, 2006, 03:46:58 AM »
I know it takes like a whole 5 seconds to connect to a server and load the game and what not, but i think it'd be cool to show like a screenshot of the map you're about to play in the console and show all that loading spam stuff down like at the bottom of the screen, just a suggestion...a lot of newer games do that....along with music.  Then again its only like 5 seconds

I dont know how to word this because I really dont know what to call them, but you know how in a worldspawn when making a map you do:

"team1" "blue"
"team2" "red"
"message" "Shazam 33 - by rez"

Maybe you could add a little variable type thing so its like:

"team1" "blue"
"team2" "red"
"message" "Shazam 33 - by rez"
"img_url" "http://imageshack.us/39042/shazam33.jpeg"

Get what I mean? Then DP loads the image from the imageshack url.

I wouldn't want to use URLs, personally. I'd rather have it be a file that matches the name of the BSP somewhere in the pball folder. Someone could take a bunch of screenshots for the maps that are played now.
