LAG! Both as in ping and FPS...

SERVER LAG

I haven't really played for a long time so I decided to a little while ago. I saw the server list showing pings ranging from 160-300 average. The lowest was 140, so I joined that. My ping was about at a 150 area and would jump up to about 180 everyonce in a while. Everyone said it looked like I was flying sometimes. At times when I would shoot there would be about a 3 second delay. This is when it would jump up to the high pings. All servers did this to me.

Things I have tried:

Reconnecting.
Different servers.
Instead of using wireless, use a cable.
Restarting my laptop.
Trying a different computer.

NONE of these worked.




CLIENT LAG (FPS)

Along with server lag, I experienced TERRIBLE FPS. I usually have about 60 FPS steady. But now, I'm dropping into about 5-10 FPS. It feels UNPLAYABLE.

Things I have tried:

Restarting
Different servers
Reconnecting
Lowering the settings down to the lowest
No H4


NONE of it worked.

Any help? I love this game and I've spent so much time on it. (About 200+ hours!)

WELL, well, well. I shouldve tried reinstalling.... That seemed to fix BOTH the problems.

I would have been interested to see your config file.  I imagine there was some setting in there causing this to happen, though I don't know what it would have been.  Nothing I can think of would have resulted in behavior quite like that.

The only thing in my config file was a script that would change my team to observer then back to a team. (For jump maps)
 

But it is resolved now. I'm still afraid to go into H4 textures. I think I like the current textures with out the pack.

U might have had another computer on at the Same time on the internet. Two comps using the same connection can cause severe lag.

I have two comps connected to netgear32 and when I use one on Internet while the other is on pball, I get severe 1000 ping.

Then don't do that.  Your Internet provider probably has your bandwidth pretty limited, and when you're using the bandwidth up on one machine, it's going to make games lag on the other.
