some sort of mars or moon station would be awesome, with a custom .env and textures for the ground.

There is at least one moon map! It was first one I played when I ran DP!

I really want to make a better lighting compiler to get visuals more like this...

This map really looks awesome ingame! (I got Q3)

In terms of shaders and lightning...
The lighting itself would be possible! If you really know how to...
these shaders... hmmm maybe possible with texture scripts and some nice brushwork...

Looks ingame a lot better!

EDIT: I'm trying to remake a similar map... Looks like fun!
Maybe Several Maps with modes in one map? I know how to!

Really? I think that arghrad/modified qrad3 should be able to do the lighting on that quite nicely, if slowly - the limitations you'd run into would be lightmap resolution and MAX_PATCHES, and they would need at least a BSP format upgrade to solve anyway. I mean, that example was probably rendered in q3map, which isn't exactly a quantum leap :)

I didn't say it would be particularly difficult, just that I wanted to do it.  Arghrad, unfortunately, applies uniform ambient light.  What would be better is to have something that combines direct sunlight with old-style sky lighting for ambient light (probably trivial to add if the Arghrad source was available... sadly I haven't been able to get in touch with Argh! in a long time).  Even better would be to sample from the colors in the skybox.  That's effectively what was done here -- the map author added 200 sun lights to the map and adjusted the color according to the colors in the skybox.
