Hello all,
Reading through some of the posts here, I came across a topic where jitspoe reccomended trying to make maps like a screenshot posted of CSS. Looking at the screeny, is it possible to get such smooth terrain on paintball? Isn't its engine unable to render such complex terrain?
Maybe I'm wrong, that's why I'm asking. Since I'd love to have maps like this screenshot jitspoe posted:

Of course the glows are a different story(more about the engine anybody?

There certainly are limitations, but I don't think many people have really pushed them.

I tried pushing the limt.
I don't think that the engine gives a lot of care about polygons. It is mainly a question about what your computer can handle.
For "smooth" looking terrain, use Phong shading with ArghRad. Just give the surfaces you want to look "smooth" the same surface value.

Is there any way to edit the MAX_MAP_BRUSHES settings? I tried to compile a super smooth terrain map(generated using GenSurf, maybe that was the prob) and I ran into MAX_MAP_BRUSHES.

Gensurf is a bad thing to use, imo. It's much better to have slightly worse (but conciderably more effective) clipped terrain with the phong shanding on.

How many brushes do you have? It would probably take a year and a half to compile even if it worked.

I'm not sure how many brushes, didn't bother to look. I'm sure it would take quite a while, especially on my CellyD. However, the problem that came up gave me a concern about max polys with realistic terrain.
