Apple also supports DRM and all that junk too, which is why I abandoned iTunes on my MacBook and the normal Apple firmware on my iPod nano, iPod linux firmware plays .ogg files and you can play Doom/DoomII on it, so it suits me better anyways.
Apple's probably getting a little ticked off at all the "iPood" shirts and such which would sorta make this their revenge. They're also probably angry at all the edits of their advertisements used against them as seen here with anti-DRM protests: http://www.flickr.com/groups/defectivebydesign/pool/show/
