Online server help
« on: November 11, 2006, 06:11:15 PM »
Well....  Tried this once before and it did the same thing but I never asked about how to fix it.  I open the shortcut that starts the server and it does the heartbeats to gamespy and I check to see if the server is added to the list and it is.  When I try to connect to it, I receive this message; WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: bind: WSAEADDRINUSE
Unknown command "27910".
Then it trys to connect to the same server over and over but is never successful.
Help? :P

Edit: I notice I have a ; before the 27910 but it still says the same thing for me.  I asked others to try and connect to it and they get the Connecting.... Message also.

Also after a while it will send this;

Sending heartbeat to 192.246.40.37:27900
Sending heartbeat to 207.38.11.34:27900

Several times.

use a ":" instead of a ";" before the port number

I talked to tom|vendetta and he said do +port 27934 after the +map, but it still doesn't work...

Also, read all of the message I first wrote because I edited it about 6 times adding more info.

When I try to connect to it, I receive this message; WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: bind: WSAEADDRINUSE
When others try to connect to it they just get the Connecting... message but they never connect, it's like the server is down.

Where is the server located?  On the same machine you're trying to connect with?  If so, try connecting to 127.0.0.1.  The reason outside people can't connect is probably because of a port forwarding or firewall issue.

My server does the same exact thing but unfortunately I have comcast and I'm unable to forward my ports so I'm stuck. Good luck to you

...you can forward ports with comcast. What matters is what router you're using, and any decent one can forward ports. Heck, they ALL should be able to forward ports.

I have the new router/modem thing and I was on the phone with the tech for a long time trying to figure it out but we couldn't so I let it go for now.
