'No Bullcrap Server' Questions (new issue included)
« on: April 12, 2007, 04:11:39 PM »
Hey guys, I've been hosting the No Bullcrap Server for a couple days now.

Having a few minor issues with Friendly fire settings.

In server.cfg what do I set FF & Grenadeffire to so team mates cannot kill eachother?

My current config is:

set ffire 0
set grenadeffire 1

________________

Also I've noticed that the placement of Grenades is rather odd, unlike other servers I've been on. For example 2 grenades will be side by side & upon round start it'll be a major traffic jam... Is there anything I can do about that or is it random?

________________

If I modify these settings, what will happen?

set PaintGrens 2 // default 2
set SmokeGrens 1 // default 1

________________
New Issue:

When Dedicated Server attemps to Change Maps (under any circumstance) the 'Loading...' text or end sound do not appear/play.

Then the server crashes & promptly shuts down.

I have re-installed & re-configured Server files (did not save & re-use any of my original files)

I have installed the Map Pack available for download at digitalpaint.com

I've had this problem occur occasionally over the past few days. However this afternoon it happens with every map change.

Thanks a ton guys. I've been enjoying this game a ton & I'm glad to host...Can't wait for the new build!

set grenadeffire to 0 to prevent friendly kills due to grenades.

----
set PaintGrens 2 // default 2
set SmokeGrens 1 // default 1

Sets the amount of paintgrens/smokegrens per round. I'm not sure if maps can specify another value as the one written down in the config, though.

I'm not sure if this was answered. But the placement of the grenades is completely random.

New Issue:

When Dedicated Server attemps to Change Maps (under any circumstance) the 'Loading...' text or end sound do not appear/play.

Then the server crashes & promptly shuts down.

I have re-installed & re-configured Server files (did not save & re-use any of my original files)

I am not sure what was happening, but after uninstalled & reinstalling 3985987349857932875784 times, everything is working fine.

Phew....thanks guys. All is working well now!

There was an old bug with the rotation where if there weren't enough maps in it, it would crash.  I'm not sure if that's what you were experiencing or not.

Grenade spawns aren't completely random -- they spawn near player spawns.

Jitspoe - I've actually come to determine that the mapinfo folder contents were being deleted somehow.

I managed to duplicate the problem on another CPU. Crazy stuff?

Uh...
a) There is no way those files should be getting deleted (by the game).
b) The game will still run without them, there just won't be proper player limits on the maps and the game mode will default to CTF.

Sounds like you need to run some diagnostics on your hard drive and/or a virus scan.  Disappearing files isn't a good thing.  The maps may have been getting corrupted as well, which can certainly lead to crashes.

Edit: Removed my mapinfo folder just to test and the game still ran fine.

Also if you are running build 16 when you try to change to shazam33 the server may randomly crash.

I know that this was fixed in build 17 pretest 3.

Didn't mean to imply that the files were being deleted by DP2.

Looks like it was a drive failing. Been replaced & all seems well now. Hope I didn't scare ya.

This may not matter in the future if we get centralized map info files.

To the Feature Request Thread I go. :)
