experiencing sound problems

Well, I have some serious trouble with my sound in paintball. It happens that it just turns off during a game and doesnt recover until i restart my computer. Its not that all my sounds turn off, but the sounds of paintball, and it doesnt even help to just restart the game.
Im running an Nforce2-Board with onboard 5.1 sound and have installed the newest drivers. can it be a matter of incompatible drivers or do i have to look for something else?

Are you using the regular sound or the 3D sound?

This after running paintball? Do the sounds work while you're in paintball?

Is this a problem that occurs after running paintball, or is it just a windows problem in general?
