Paintball2 on Mac
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:35:17 AM »
So, for all those ugly people wanted to play PB2 on their Macs I have a solution that works fine:
Get "Crossover Games" for Mac and install the latest Windows pb2 build into it. After installing it it will look like this:

All crossover programs I tried really sucked. The best solution still is Windows via Bootcamp.

Yea. Bootcamp ist best solution, but I dont wanna switch all to win only for playing paintball half an hour.
And Crossover Games is on my MacBook the same quality as Bootcamp.

Really ? I had problems when I tested it (like half a year ago?), sometimes it just crashed before PB loaded, sometimes I could play one time until it started crashing again. What OS and MacBook did you use ? Had the problem with both Mac Mini 07 (leo) and iMac 2010 (snow leo), maybe I'll try it out on my MBP later.

I know this is a really old thread, but there's also another option.

Create a new partition on your hard drive, install linux.  Play via the linux version of DP.
I did it with an intel Macbook and it worked fine for me.  Although, it wouldn't run from the shortcut on the desktop.  I had to go to where it was actually installed and click the application icon from there.

This way you don't have to buy a version of windows.

The best solution is a bootcamp partition.

The best solution is a bootcamp partition.

To elaborate on this for the uninitiated, it's installing Windows on a separate partition on your Mac via a built in program.

Afterwards, remember to hold alt when booting up.

Yes, this is what I do.:) You do have to purchase the OS though.

It's been awhile. Is this still the best workaround if someone wanted to play on Mac?
