Hey guys lately I've been getting this error opening some maps to beta test them this is the error

ERROR: CMod_LoadBrushModel: maps/beta/ruinr_b1.bsp has wrong version number (######### should be 38) With different numbers where there is # symbols. Any idea what is the matter with it.

The file is probably corrupt.  Re-download it.

It still happens when I use firefox to download it opens it in notepad then I just save it could that be the problem also it seems to happen when ever I download from rapidshare.

Yes, that would be the problem. For whatever reason, you have BSPs to open by default with notepad. You can change that in the registry (HK_CLASSES_ROOT), or you can just right-click, save as.

The answer was pathetically simple I had to do is click save to disk instead of open.
