I think jits should make it so you have to be registered to view the forums.  Anyone else think the same?

Hell no!!

Then how woud search engiens spider the forums?

How would the game spread to others?

Knack you might like my idea.

Don't make it registered to view but make it registered to post even in Help & Support since there has been an outbreak of spamming there.

Agreed KiLo,

At least that will slowdown spam.
Or, is there a captcha ad-on where you enter a captcha code even to post anonymously?
I know some forums I frequent have that capability.

We discussed CAPTCHA Friday in CSC.  :P I would think the modern spam company can easily break a CAPTCHA code by simply copying the image, relaying it back to their site, requiring a user to answer it to access the spammer's site, then, possibly equipped with the correct code, the bot would return to the original form.

However, I think it'd be more beneficial now, to allow everyone (registered, unregistered, bots, etc.) to VIEW the forums, however remove 'guest posting' in it's entirety so that more users will be registered users, of whom we can tie a static name to, and keep on an eye better.

Unfortunately, if you have a registration issue there is no way to inform the admins of it.

Unless makes an easy link for registration issues that emails himself.

I think we should just disallow guest posting. It'd stop spam, and accounts that spam can be easily deleted.

If you don't let guests post in H&S, how are silly little noobs who don't know how to register going to get the help they need? And trust me, if they don't know how to register a forum account, they definitely need it.

How did this topic somehow completely change topic to spamming guests?

What if somebody is posting the help and support section because he can't get his account to work?  That's kind of the point of it.  If I can get captcha set up for guest posts, though, that should eliminate most spam bots.  It seems to have killed almost all of the registered spammers.

I hadn't seen that happen in so long, I assumed it never happened.  :-\

Moderating will be so easy if we get captcha'd guest posting...
