3-4 hours is my average time. That's not including compile time.

How do you know it takes up to a year?

:P

BTW, GGC will probably host it if there are compatable compilers native to linux. qbsp3 and qvis yes, but you'll probably have to use standard qrad for lighting as opposed to arghrad.
I've played since January 2006 (not on the forums though) not counting my brief stay in 2005 in the summer. I started mapping in April 2006 after a few Guest visits to the forums I worked on a map till I joined the forums saw how good all the maps here were and scrapped it to the recycle bin.

Only 6 since march, but let's get back on topic.

I usually take 1-2 days to make the first beta of a map, and infinity to finish it.

Are you basing it on the dp2demo2aviweb code? That should take a while off the wait.

The two won't share much of a codebase. Most of my code is to get dp2demo2aviweb to work, and that is mostly through error catching.

For the compiler, the backend will be written in .NET, and that will be done by Eiii. The front end will be written by me and hosted on DP Resource. We hope we can build it in such a way that a "network" of compilers can be linked together to DPR, and no one will have to have it on 24/7, as long as there are enough other compilers to fill in the time gaps.

If every mapper took as long as y00tz, we'd all be stuck in oddjob right now :P
If every mapper took as long as y00tz, oddjob.bsp wouldn't exist. :P

I voted for over a year, but that's mostly because I get caught up in other stuff and never get around to finishing things for a long time.  If I really focused, I could make a map in a day or less, but it probably wouldn't be as detailed and balanced as I would like.
