If I want to do a barrel of oil model for including in map, I dont know why its a cheat

Look into Blender and MilkShape 3-D, they are some pretty cool modeling programs.

qME is good for converting various model formats into md2.  That's what I used.

No, you have to do the bounding in brushes. The models themselves won't have collision.

Models do not have collision detection.
