Downloads don't finish.
« on: March 12, 2008, 03:13:12 PM »
My downloads (fast only) all get stuck at 99%. Then it just sits there. What's the deal?

Every time with every file?  Has anybody else had this happen?  Do you have some kind of packet filtering?  Maybe one (or more) packets are getting consistently dropped because of what they contain?

It works maybe... 1 out of 20 times. I've noticed for smaller maps more so than big maps. I'm not using any AV software. WinXP with SP3, but it never worked with SP2 installed either. I use a Linksys WRT54G with DD-Wrt installed. If that's the problem what exactly would I have to fix inorder to resolve this problem?

Isn't SP3 still in beta?

If it's at 99%, then you disconnect and reconnect, does it resume and finish up?

Does it resume at 99% or does it start somewhere else in the file?  If you delete the file and start over, does it do the same thing?

I just tried downloading half-pipe, it got to 99%, i reconnected and it went from 28% to 99% and stopped. I did this six or seven times with the same results. In the past if I deleted the .tmp file it would work eventually, but only a few select times. Normally it just goes from 0 to %99 and stops.

Hm, so it's missing a block in a specific part of the file and consistently not geting it.  My guess is something with your ISP, router, firewall, virus scanner, etc. is blocking that particular packet.

Without a firewall and virus scanner this problem was still happening.
My ISP is AOL, ... ya i know, and I use a WRT54G linksys router running DD-WRT. Are there any settings I could look for in my router setup that would help the problem?

AOL's firewall and spam filters are just plain annoying.  They are too paranoid.
