Hotmail
« on: March 26, 2008, 11:49:56 PM »
I'm a bit sick of going through the website and would like to set it up in Thunderbird.  Is this possible because i can't find a POP3 or a SMTP address.  I can do it with my OptusNet one and Gmail one, just wanna put hotmail in there as well.

I don't think hotmail uses POP3 or SMTP. You're out of luck, assuming I remember correctly.

Better solution: Don't use hotmail. Icky.

I think there may be some way to pull Hotmail mail from a gmail account, but I'm not at all sure.

Hotmail used to allow usage of an e-mail client but no longer supports it. They did away with it when they launched their "Hotmail Live", if I remember right.

i know you can do hotmail with outlook (!!!!!!!!!!) but with thunderbird... i dont know.

agree with cameron... hotmail live is... well... crappy piece of poo. just like WLM 8...

why do they have to find reason to make these programs over bloated into garbage? what's worse, at first you have the option of using the old format and then eventually they FORCE you to use it.

Hm...I will consider it. My bigger issue right now with Hotmail is that spammers use it so much my address seems to get filtered by a lot of folks just for being hotmail or msn.

Mine is fine, athough I'm still waiting for my $12 million from the late Prince Albert of Liberia's wife to arrive.

I like hotmail over my Optus one.  I don't get ANY spam on the hotmail and get stuff in the spam folder and stuff that gets past the spam filter in the Optus.  I will try what lekky said today.

It is not that I get spam. I get filtered by other people's spam guards because too many hotmail users send spam apparently.

Why not? I have a domain which I use with email... £2 is nothing for a year's domain & email.
