I need a GPS...
« on: June 03, 2008, 11:20:35 AM »
So my old GPS died on me.  Just stops working one day.  Went to staples to use my 2 year warranty to get a replacement and I find out that they don't sell my GPS anymore.  So, I got ~200 in cash refund (they couldn't get the "cash card" to work.  :D).

Anyway, I need suggestions.  What would be a GPS brand/specific model that you would recommend?

WHat are your needs?

Car mounted?

Hiking?

Maybe upgrade your phone with a gps enabled one?

It's for my car.  I want something that will mount to the window, says the street names, and has a large(r) screen. It doesn't need bluetooth or FM transmitter but thats a plus.  Maybe a way to connect with a PC (for my tweaking curiosities)?

If you have an OnStar equiped chebby and dont pay for it, you could hook a laptop to the serial interfce of the OnStar gps.....

Haha, nice.  Unfortunately, I don't have an OnStar equipped car.  :(
