Server Trouble
« on: June 30, 2008, 02:12:15 PM »
I've followed this as a guide:

http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/docs/server_guide_win32.html

And forwarded my ports for my specific router with this:

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/Quake_2.htm

After completing all instructions and forwarding my ports and allowing the DP2 port 27910 (UDP) on my firewall, the server still does not show up on the server list (to other players.)

I've used this troubleshooter:

http://digitalpaint.therisenrealm.com/tools/servertroubleshooter

And it hasn't helped

Any Ideas?

"Copy/Paste" Test Results

DP Resource Public Server Troubleshooter
Specified server information: 68.199.41.241:27910
Actual user IP address: Same as provided IP
RCON password provided? yes
Run at Mon, 30 Jun 2008 20:29:40 +0000

TEST PROCESS
===================
> Checking if 68.199.41.241:27910 can be connected to...
>    Writing to socket: '\xFF\xFF\xFF\xFFstatus\n'
>    Attempting to read, 3 second timeout...
>    OK: Strings 'Digital Paint' and/or 'DPPB2' found in server output (ping: 85ms)
> Using a non-default server hostname.
> Connection SUCCESSFUL! Port forwarding and firewall settings correct.
> Checking server list...
> Getting server list from http://dplogin.com/serverlist.php
> No entries found on the server list
> public is set to 1

RECOMMENDATIONS
===================
* The wrong master servers may be set; open your server configuration file, delete all the lines starting with setmaster, and add setmaster dplogin.com master0.gamespy.com (then restart your server)

I've followed the recommendation but for some reason the server displays in gray and I cannot connect to it myself while running the server.

You have to give it a few minutes to populate the server list.

The key is to look for an acknowledgment for the heartbeat.

btw - thanks for following through on the stickies.
