Stuck name
« on: August 20, 2008, 04:20:32 PM »
Every single time I change my name and then exit, the next time I go on, it reverts back to the name I no longer want to keep. What the heck is with that?

How are you exiting the game?  If you are using Alt-F4 or something it won't save the name you change it to.  You have to use the quit / exit button or the command in the console that i never remember since I don't use it.

Or you exiting the funname screen and you don't hit apply so it goes back to noname or newbie when you join a server.

What can I do to fix it? I'm getting tired of changing my name every time I start the game!

Well.... If you just use white characters then all you have to do is set a bind to a key and presto... a one key stroke name change. I know that doesn't SOLVE the problem but it will keep the aggravation down until a fix is found.

Are you sure your config file or something is not read only?

Does it need to be in Read Only or no?

probably not. Right-click on it and select properties. De-select the read-only box (if it is like that). If not, say so...

What was the cause of your problem.  It is good to say the solution for the people who search for a solution to their problem in the future.
