Installing games w/o admin
« on: September 30, 2008, 09:57:03 AM »
Age of Empires 2, as well as other games, requires admin privileges to install. Any way I can get around this?

Make whoever is admin to change your user into an admin. Then you can install stuff on your user. That's the obvious answer, not sure how else you would do it.

I take it  this is a school pc?

If so, the only way to do it is to get granted local power user or admin priviledges on the pc. I doubt that will ever happen though as it makes for a hell of a security risk.

This doesn't answer your question, but if you're looking for a work around to play at school, here's what I used:

Install AoE2 to a folder at your home PC, i.e. c:/AOE2/

Copy that folder, and paste it on a flash drive, or burn it on a cd,
allow 3-4 minutes to cool off, enjoy.

@y00tz: So I would be able to play it without installing by doing this?

yes. I bring CSS to school for the games club after school sometimes on my flash drive and we LAN in the computer labs.
