If you're running a dedicated server, you need to pass the argument +set dedicated 1 and whatever else you want it to do, otherwise it will try and start the graphical version with sound (/dev/dsp) and graphics.

in the server config?
i added this command in the server config under general settings but it doesnt work

You pass the argument to the program - "./paintball2 +set dedicated 1 +exec serverconfignamehere.cfg +map arenaball" or something similar.

the server is running now but i have another question
where to change the hostport and how to join on the server ingame(not on public list)

You might have to use connect 127.0.0.1 if it's running on the same machine.
