[Feature] Request statistics be kept for global login profiles
« on: December 15, 2008, 11:53:37 AM »
I've seen a few similar requests, but most regard some sort of a rating system.  While that would be nice, I could also go for a system that just tracked simple statistics, like total kills, kills with each gun, number of deaths, etc.  If the system also kept track of accuracy, this would decrease much of the lining that ruins maps like shazam33, etc.  This has always seemed like the one feature that pb2 just should've have but hasn't.

That is a very great idea. Just keep on posting new ideas that catch the eye, as this was one read and meerly tossed in the garbage. It sounds like it could be implented into my idea that has the first thing you mentioned. Read it here:

I'm not sure if this is what you're requesting, but this would probably be a lot more feasible if it were done locally (on your own computer, not on the login server), much like Call of Duty 4 does it.  The stats wouldn't really mean much, as it would be easy to fake them or use cheap tactics to "stat pad", but they can give you some sense of personal accomplishment and maybe encourage people to play a little more.  The login server is already reaching its limits, and I'd like to keep things at a minimum on it to allow for growth.  I think any kind of global online tracking would need to be limited to things like matches and/or tournaments, where they'd be a little more meaningful than just how many times you can spawn-kill new players.
