Recoverable error when a map fails to load

It would be helpful if you took the time to describe the feature request in detail so I don't have to keep typing all of these descriptions.  (This goes for everyone).

This sounds like a good idea because if a server crashes, usually people don't come back to see what happened.  Good way for a server to stay occupied and not lose popularity.

Anyone have a .bsp that causes this so I can try and do something with it?

This one gives me (Vista x64) a "ERROR: GL_Upload8: too large" if i have the textures. Without the textures: Client crashes.
My brother (WinXP) can load it without any problems.

Vic: Easy way to test this is to put 2 maps in rotation, then delete one of them from the maps directory, but not the rotation.  I'm not sure how many different situations would need to be covered, though, or if it's possible to fix with just the engine code, or would need game code changes as well.
